Structure

Management of the Association
The governing body of the Association is the Annual General Meeting held during the spring of each year. The day to day management of the Association is largely conducted through the National Executive Committee (NEC), which usually meets six times a year. The NEC is composed of officers elected annually by the membership. The NEC is serviced by an Executive Secretary who is also responsible for providing administrative services to the Association.

Networks
The Association has several networks for communication amongst members and seeks to respond to the constantly increasing pressure on time that has made it more difficult for colleagues to be active within a professional association.

Branches
The Constitution allows for the establishment of Branches, which are often structured around a single employer and are sometimes better placed to offer support at a very local level.

Interest Networks
The Association provides the opportunity to develop networks around common interests, issues and areas of work. The women manager?s network has been active for a number of years arranging seminars and workshops for the service and other related professions. The possibilities for new networks are wide ranging at a local or national level and in future the member?s area of the NAYCEO website will be an important tool in this network.

Networking with colleagues on an individual basis can offer a meaningful source of help and support. The Association supports such contact and can facilitate bringing together individuals seeking support on a youth and community work issue.

Teams
At a national level the Association has established a network of teams to work with individual NEC portfolio holders to spread the work and develop the expertise of members, making it potentially more accessible at a local level. The development of this process is ongoing and the Training, Soulbury and Casework portfolio holders have found the team structure beneficial. The NEC welcomes applications from interested members at any time.

Representation
The Association actively seeks to ensure that it is represented at a local and national level and the views of NAYCEO members are brought to the fore in forums where it really matters. The National Youth Agency Policy Forum, the National Youth Agency Education & Training Standards Sub Committee and the National Drug Education Forum are examples. NAYCEO is a voluntary organisation which encourages all members to participate in its management, service provision and support network.
